CMAS Plática: Ralph E. Rodriguez

Thu, October 21, 2010 | Chicano Culture Room (UNB 4.206), Texas Union, The University of Texas at Austin

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

This plática, "A Question of You and Me: Variations on a Theme, or Two", is based on a book manuscript of lyrical criticism that examines how we inhabit, enact, and represent our racialized, gendered, and sexualized identities.  Through a series of associatively related fragments Ralph E. Rodriguez, Associate Professor of American Civilization and Ethnic Studies at Brown University, analyzes the mutually reinforcing relationship between culture and identity.  The topics covered in the fragments range from literature, to critical theory, to music, to film and to microfiction.
