CMAS Graduate Portfolio Plática

Wed, April 8, 2009 | Texas Union, Chicano Culture Room (4.206)

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM

In this portfolio plática, Amanda Maria Morrison will discuss the bicultural experiences of Chicana/os in the Bay Area hip-hop scene. This ethnographic project explores how performers are at once adept at “code switching” between Mexican and American traditions, but also how they are enormously creative cultural hybridizers, generating novel hip-hop fusions that merge black and brown aesthetics.
