Outreach
About Outreach
The Middle East Outreach Program works to enhance knowledge and understanding of the Middle East and its component cultures in K-12 and postsecondary schools, businesses, civic and nonprofit organizations, the media, and the general public. The Center for Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Texas at Austin has been involved in outreach work to schools, colleges, community groups, business, and the media since the mid-1970s.
As an active member of Hemispheres, the International Area Studies Outreach Consortium
in the College of Liberal Arts and the Middle East Outreach Council,
our program participates in the coordination of outreach efforts nationwide. Center faculty, staff, graduate students, and community organization members assist with our activities, through which we aim to improve the understanding of the Middle East.
