Center for Perceptual Systems

Computational Analysis and Modeling

Perceptual stimuli, tasks, and neural mechanisms are extremely complex, and hence the study of perceptual systems can benefit greatly from computational, mathematical and statistical modeling.  CPS faculty apply computational and mathematical modeling to understand neural encoding and decoding, develop and test robotic perceptual and motor systems, analyze the statistical structure of natural scenes, and model psychophysical performance.  Appropriate computational platforms are available in many CPS laboratories and at other sites on the UT campus.
