The National Women’s Political Caucus Announces the Launch of College Women’s Caucus on Women’s Equality Day - August 26th
(Austin, Texas) In celebration of Women’s Equality Day, the National Women’s Political Caucus proudly announces the launch of the National Women’s Political Caucus - College Women’s Caucus at the University of Texas at Austin (NWPC-CWC at Uof T). The NWPC-CWC at U of T will be a national student organization designed to increase political engagement among college-aged women, both on campuses and within their local communities. Members of the caucus will work to train and elect women to student government positions and will hold campus forums on issues of concern to college women.
Working in conjunction with the National Women’s Political Caucus-Texas and the local Austin chapter, students in the NWPC-CWC at U of T will host and participate in training events around such topics as: how to fundraise; how to run a campaign; how to mobilize volunteers and voters. They will also have the opportunity to volunteer on local political campaigns and network with successful women in politics. By the time CWC members graduate from college, they will have the tools, confidence and connections to staff political campaigns for local candidates, or run for office themselves!
A launch party and Women’s Equality Day celebration will be held at the Eastwoods Room
(Room 2.102) at the Texas Union at the University of Texas at Austin campus on August 26th from 12pm until 1pm.
The National Women’s Political Caucus - College Women’s Caucus at the University of Texas at Austin is part of a pilot program for the national student group which will be launched at other college campuses across the country this year. If you are interested in creating a chapter at your school, please contact NWPC’s young women’s coordinator, Claire Cook at email@example.com.
