CWGS Graduate Portfolio Student, Naminata Diabate, Wins Prestigious Award

Naminata Diabate was the winner of the Graduate School 2011 Outstanding Dissertation Award in the Humanities and Fine Arts Category. The Awards Ceremony was May 18 2011. Her dissertation title is "Genital Power: Female Sexuality in African Literature and Film." Lisa Moore and Neville Hoad supervised it.

The Outstanding Dissertation Award was established in 1979 by the Graduate School to recognize exceptional work by doctoral students and to encourage the highest levels of scholarship, research, and writing. Three awards of $4,000 each will be given in 2011. Graduate Studies Committee Chairs are asked to submit one doctoral student from their programs for the award.
