Portrait of Kora Noel Garcia-Cook

Kora is a white, Irish/Scottish-Chicana transwoman born and raised in Texas. An uber-ultra-super-senior (a.k.a. a 6th year senior with another semester to go) at UT, she plans to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies. As a 6th year student Kora has been involved with a number of organizations on campus: TRANS*action, Queer People of Color and Allies, the Feminist Action Project, Queer Chorus, and the Student Leadership Committee. A firm believer in the power of art/written works/performance to bring about social change Kora has participated in a production of “The Vagina Monologues," has been a facilitator for the Peers for Pride program for the past three years, has had her poetry published in the “#Musings of a Lonely Feminist” zine, and her slash fanfiction published online (feel free to ask her about it…winky-face). Currently, Kora works as a student staffer at the Gender and Sexuality Center.
