Dr. Eric Tang's African & African Diaspora Studies community internship course in collaboration with the John L. Warfield Center presented a preview of their work entitled “East Avenue: Racial Segregation in Austin- Past and Present.” On this past Wednesday, May 1st. The documentary project features the testimonies of those who recall the not-so-distant past of racial segregation in Austin to capture stories from Austin’s Jim Crow Past. Many members of the Austin community joined University of Texas faculty and students in exploring the ways in which that legacy continues today.
