Dr. Neil Foley, Professor in the Department of History, received his Ph.D. in American Culture from the University of Michigan in 1990.  His current research focuses on the constructions of race, citizenship and transnational identity in the Borderlands of Mexico and the American West; immigration; and comparative civil rights politics of African Americans and Mexican Americans.  His most recent publication, Quest for Equality: The Failed Promise of Black-Brown Solidarity was published by Harvard University Press in 2010.
