This workshop covers the basics: what kinds of funding graduate students are eligible for, where to find opportunities, and how to organize your application process. Also to be discussed, questions about grant writing and the role of grants in your professional development.

Melanie Morgan provides support to faculty and graduate students seeking foundation funding by researching grant opportunities and coordinating with UT Austin's offices for fundraising and research administration. She received her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from UT Austin (2011) and has worked in development at both the University of Texas and the Urban Institute in Washington, D.C.
Kathy Thatcher assists faculty and graduate students with federal grant submissions. She holds a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from UT Austin (2010) and is a Certified Research Administrator (2009). In seventeen years with the University and ten years as a research administrator, Ms. Thatcher has worked with offices across campus including, most recently, the Community College Leadership Program's Center for Community College Student Engagement and the Section of Neurobiology.
