Posted: May 12, 2008
One of the highest honors that the university bestows upon its faculty, the Presidential Professorship is a lifetime title that is accompanied by a significant monetary award. Dr. Lewis has been a member of the Honors College since 2001. He is a documentary filmmaker and author of several books in the field of American Studies. "I'm very grateful for this recognition," he says. "I'm fortunate to have had a number of great American Studies professors while I was in grad school at UT. Mark Smith, Jeff Meikle, Bob Crunden, Emily Cutrer, and Bill Stott come to mind immediately." In addition to receiving the distinguished professorship, Dr. Lewis will become the Associate Dean of the Honors College on July 1, 2008.
