Issue 5 of 'The End of Austin' now available

Issue 5 of The End of Austin is now published. Featuring the work of Derek Sayer, Adam Tallman, David Villarreal, Jeannette Vaught, Brendan Gaughen, Megan Coxe, Andres Lombana Bermudez, Jack Murphy, Jonathan Silverman, Riley Triggs, Robin McDowell, Yoke-Sum Wong, Adrian Mesko, Vasilina Orlova, Monty Jones, Daniel Perera, Álvaro Torres, Jonathan Lowell, Erica Robert Pallo, Michael Scully, Joy Luther, Mark Sheaves, Elizabeth Walsh, and Emily Mixon, this issue addresses topics like Slacker 25 years later, shared services at UT, flooding in Onion Creek, the F-1 track, weirdness in Austin, cedar fever, and more.
Two of those contributors - Brendan Gaughen and Jeannette Vaught - are current UT American Studies Ph.D. candidates, and another two - Jonathan Silverman and Michael Scully - are alumni of the graduate program.
Members of the The End of Austin editorial board were also asked by the University of Texas to speak at the UT Chancellor's Council Annual Meeting on May 2. Sean Cashbaugh, Carrie Andersen, and Randolph Lewis talked to nearly 200 donors about the project, the field of American Studies, and what we anticipate of Austin's future.
