Noe Lopez

Hello! My name is Noe Lopez. I was born in the Mixtec region of  Oaxaca, Mexico. I migrated to Oxnard, California when I was 11 years old.

I obtained my Bachelors of Arts at the University of California, Santa Barbara with a double major in Anthropology and Latin American and Iberian Studies. As an undergraduate, I was part of the McNair Scholars Program.

My research focuses on Mixtec transnational communities. I focus on the second generation, labor, occupational mobility, and community formation.

At UT, I plan to expand my work on Mixtecs using a political economy approach.  I also plan to explore gender and sexuality in transnational indigenous communities.
