Course Description
The primary objectives of "The History and Culture of American Youth Organizations" are to provide students with (1) a theoretical framework within which to assess the significance of youth organizations in the larger society, (2) knowledge of the interdisciplinary scholarship on youth culture and youth organizations, (3) an informed understanding of the challenges and opportunities that a range of contemporary youth organizations face, and (4) experience in conducting qualitative research, with an emphasis on the ethnographic approach.
