Course Description
This course provides an archaeological and historical overview of Africa from approximately 4 million years ago to the beginning of European expansion. The African continent is over three times the size of the United States and current evidence indicates that the ancestors of all humankind evolved there around 4 million years ago. Today there are more than a thousand different languages, belonging to four major language families, spoken in Africa; ethnic and ecoloigcal diversity are great.
