Course Description
This focus of this seminar is on how local, national and global discourses are being shaped about technology and knowledge. We will look at how globalization is being discussed and the principal groups, ideas, and institutions that are shaping this concept. We will focus on communication practices as well as knowledge and belief systems from a wide variety of perspectives and cultures. Our focus will be ethnographically and empirically oriented as well as theoretical. We will be interested in cultural contexts and the development of ideas and practices through language and other symbolic media. No prerequisites.
