ANT 380K • Household Archaeology

Course Description

This seminar will examine the analysis and interpretation of households by archaeologists and anthropologists over the past 30 years. The course is intended for archaeologists, and case studies will come from both prehistoric and historical archaeology. Seminar participants will consider how various scholars have conceptualized the household as a social unit of analysis, and thus a number of theoretical frameworks will be explored including how feminists, neo-Marxists, processualists and post-processualists have approached the subject of households.
