“An Epismtemology of the Self: Genetic Markers of (Jewish) Origins”
This paper discusses the specific biological-historical imagination of contemporary projects in genetic history. It explores, first, the assumptions and forms of evidence through which this contemporary science departs from race science and second, through a discussion of ancestry testing companies, it considers its effects in larger domains of cultural practice.
A light lunch will be served.
