Professor, Departments of Sociology and Political Science, University of Illinois at Chicago. Author of numerous books and articles in Urban History/Sociology, Political Sociology, and Race and Ethnicity, Professor Orum will discuss the growing ethnic diversity and its implications today in the United States and elsewhere. Opening up new avenues for research on politics and immigration, he will consider how immigrants influence the host society rather than how they adapt to it.
