Coffee and Conversation with Gail Hershatter (University of California, Santa Cruz)

Dr. Hershatter is a leading historian of modern Chinese social, cultural and women's history, and author of the prize-winning book, "Dangerous Pleasures: Prostitution and Modernity in 20th-Century Shanghai."

Dr. Hershatter is also giving a lecture on Oct. 25 for the Humanities Institute on "The Gender of Memory: Rural Women, Labor, and Collectivization in Early Socialist China."
