Dr. Paul Kockelman Joins Our Faculty Fall 2013

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Paul Kockelman to our department this Fall. Dr. Kockelman is a linguistic anthropologist and has done extensive linguistic and ethnographic fieldwork, primarily among speakers of Q'eqchi'-Maya living in Guatemala. He has also been conducting research which addresses autistic communication and communication with autistic people. He is the author of Language, Culture, and Mind: Natural Constructions and Social Kinds and Agent, Person, Subject, Self: A Theory of Ontology, Interaction, and Infrastructure. Dr. Kockelman earned his M.S. in Physics and his Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago and comes to us from Barnard College and Columbia University, where he was an Associate Professor. This Fall, Dr. Kockelman is teaching the graduate course Materiality/Measurement/Money (ANT 393).
