Biography
SFC Michael Snyder enlisted in the Army upon graduating from Silver Valley High School in 1989 and completed Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Ft. Benning, GA.
SFC Snyder has served the Army in various Light Infantry Units throughout the United States and Overseas, to include DMZ Joint Security Area Scout Platoon, Korea; 1-27 IN Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; 2-87th IN Fort Drum, New York; 2-81 Armor, 1st Armor Training BN, Fort Knox, Kentucky; 1-46 IN Fort Knox, Kentucky; 46th Adjutant General BN, Fort Knox, Kentucky; 2-4 IN Fort Polk, LA. He has held leadership positions as a Team Leader, Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant. In addition, he also served as a Drill Sergeant.
SFC Snyder’s military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Combat Lifesaver Course, Emergency Medical Technician Course (EMT), Total Army Instructor Course, Primary, Basic, and Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, and Drill Sergeant School. Additionally, SFC Snyder is pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Education.
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal with bronze star, Korea Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with one Campaign Star, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with two Campaign Stars, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer's Professional Development Ribbon with numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with the numeral 4, Humanitarian Service Medal, NATO Medal with bronze star, Multinational Forces and Observers Ribbon, Expert Infantryman's Badge, Air Assault Badge, German Military Proficiency Badge, and the Drill Sergeant Badge.
