Biography

Major Cody Damron has served in the Army for over 16 years since enlisting as an Artillery Cannon Crewmember.  In 1999, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.   MAJ Damron also holds a diploma from the Spring Bible Institute, a graduate Bible program.

Commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer in 1999, his former assignments include Fire Direction Officer and Platoon Leader with the 1-161 FA in the 35th Infantry Division in Kansas.   There he mobilized with Battery A 1-161 FA in support of Operation Noble Eagle where he was a part of directing and firing more than 2,500 155mm artillery rounds from a Ml09A5 howitzer. He Returned to Texas in 2004, where he commanded Battely B, 4-133 FA in the 36th Infantry Division.

In June 2007, he volunteered for deployment to Baghdad as the intelligence and special projects officer for 2-131 FA.  There he developed reintegration programs for Iraqi detainees to assist in their peaceful release back into society, managing more than $500 million dollars in facilities, equipment, and contracts.

After completing his tour in Iraq, MAJ Damron served as the Battalion S3 and Battalion Executive Officer for 4-133 FA.  In June 2012, he was assigned to The University of Texas at Austin as an Associate Professor of Military Science.

MAJ Damron's awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, the Army Commendation, and the Army Achievement Medal.

He married LaDorshe Bonner from Lufkin, TX in 1998. They have two daughters, 12 and 7, and a baby boy born this past summer of 2012.
