MAJ Christopher Stelle



Major Christopher N. Stelle enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Avionics Radar Repairer in 1994.  He served three years at Fort Campbell, KY in the 8/101st Aviation Battalion before he received an active duty ROTC scholarship to attend Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and was commissioned on May 27, 2000 as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Armor Corps.  Major Stelle transitioned to the Military Intelligence Corps in 2004.

His military education includes:  Army Officer Basic Course; Military Intelligence Advanced Course; Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Arts in National Security Affairs, with a concentration in Middle East Regional Studies; and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

His assignments include:  Camp Garry Owen, Korea – Scout Platoon Leader, 4-7 Cavalry Regiment; Fort Knox, KY – Company Executive Officer, 1-46 Infantry; Battalion S1 and S4, 1-46 Infantry; Fort Campbell, KY – Assistant Brigade Intelligence Officer, 101st Aviation Brigade; Military Intelligence Company Commander, 101st Special Troops Battalion; Fort Hood, TX – Brigade S2, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade; Battalion S3, 163d Military Intelligence Battalion; Battalion XO, 163d Military Intelligence Battalion; and currently serving as the Chief of Plans, J2 Intelligence Directorate for the Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, NC.

Major Stelle has served multiple combat tours to include Operation ENDURING FREEDOM – Afghanistan and Operation IRAQI FREEDOM – Iraq.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (1 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2 OLC), Army Good conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (4 Service Stars), Korea Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (3), Meritorious Unit Citation, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Combat Action Badge, Parachute Badge, Air Assault Badge, Pathfinder Badge, and Aircraft Crew Member Badge.

Major Stelle is married to the former Crystal Tripp of Arimo, Idaho and have three children.
