Captain McFarland becomes Major McFarland
Major McFarland becomes the Army's newest major
Posted: February 1, 2009
Major McFarland has been the Assistant Professor of Military Science at UT since June 2007. Major McFarland has been instrumental in the recent success enjoyed by the cadets at LDAC and other training events. He is also credited with bringing Cross-Fit, a work out program, to the ROTC program to improve the PT scores for all of the cadets.
The promotion was administered by LTC Boris Robinson, who also provided a short speech about the tradition and importance of being promoted to the rank of Major. After the oath was given to Major McFarland, his wife, Elizabeth, and son, August, “pinned” his new rank on his uniform. Major McFarland then gave a short speech in which he thanked his entire family for their support and dedication to his career in the armed forces.
The ceremony was followed by a delicious BBQ lunch and fellowship between the cadets and the McFarland family. Congratulations to Major McFarland for reaching an extraordinary milestone in his career.
