The SMP program is designed to allow ROTC cadets to drill in the Army Reserves or National Guard while completing their degree. Seth Harp has served as an active duty soldier in the United States Army attaining the rank of Sergeant, and recently returned from a combat tour in Iraq. When asked what made him decide on the program here at UT, his answer was simple, I live here in Austin, and I'm already a UT student.
Under this program, Cadet Harp will graduate in three years, at which time he will be commissioned in the Army as a Second Lieutenant. Already on the road to success, Cadet Harp hopes to graduate with a 4.0 GPA in economics and government, then perhaps law school. His long-term goal is to pursue a career in government.
