Course Description
This course is a continuation of the introduction to the Sanskrit language. It builds directly on the grammatical, lexicographic and semantic foundation, given in the first semester. The main difference in the structure from the previous instruction is the introductions to reading actual Sanskrit texts from a Reader. The Reader has selections from the Mahabharata, the Hitopadesa, the Vedas, etc. The handy glossary and copious notes are instructive and make frist steps for reading easy. The study of grammar and syntax is based on reading material. The students will be responsible for the preparation for the reading passages studied in class.
