HIN 330 • Advanced Reading, Composition and Conversation I

Course Description

Course objective: to practice the four skills, speaking, reading, listening and writing and bring these skills up to the advanced level. For speaking practice, there will be oral reports and the class will be conducted in Hindi as much as possible. For reading practice, we will read examples of modern Hindi fiction, including the following stories: "Sac bolne kii bhuul" by Yashpal "Baadshaah" by V. Agrawal "Hiroshima" by Agyey. "Kafan" by Premchand "Usne Kahaa Thaa" by Guleri "Ande ke chilke" by Mohan Rakesh "Adhikaar kaa Rakshak" by Upendranath Ashk "Punchlight" by Phanishwarnath Renu. For listening, there will be some excerpts from Hindi movies and for the practice of writing and grammar there will be regular essay assignments.
