Course Description
Introduction to the Sanskrit language. Elements of Sanskrit grammar. Practice in the Sanskrit writing system and reading Sanskrit texts. Each new grammatical feature is accompanied by tailored excercises. The textbook is based on traditional Indian grammar. Simple readings from the Ramayana provide first experience of reading a text. The aim of the course is to provide a solid foundation for reading and understanding classical Sanskrit.
