Course Description
The primary goal of the course is to acquire communicative competence, which requires both accurate and culturally appropriate usage of the Japanese language. A variety of conversational styles including the use of honorific and humble forms and men's and women's colloquial speech will be covered. Video clips from Japanese TV shows, dramas, commercials, and animation will be used to enhance the students' communicative competence as well as socio-cultural competence.
