Course Description
Clear understanding of Tamil language patterns and grammatical nuances through variety of class materials is aiming to achieve and prepare to work independently with Tamil texts. Content teaching and understanding and development of higher order skills form part of the course through variety of class and home activities such as, Vocabulary development, Letter writing, Essay writing, Autobiography, Short story, Translation, Question Answers (use question words), Pictorial learning, Dictations, Listening comprehension, Reading comprehension, cultural understanding, Use of complex structures, use of simple verbs and complex verbs, Split sentences, Combine sentences, Use words in your own sentences, Use of Connectors, Understanding verbs in the cultural contexts and their case relations, Preparation of Dictionary from the words introduced in the class, Communicative competence, and Working with new Tamil passage without any assistance. All these will are achieved through Print, Audio, Video, Pictures and other teaching tools.
Grading Policy
Grading is on a straight scale. Weights assigned to each activity are as follows: Attendance (43x5) ... 215 Homework (5x20) ... 100 Essays (4x 20) . . . 80 Presentation (2) ... 150 Conversation .. 155 Exam/Papers . 300
