ANS 361 • Asian Media and Culture

Course Description

This course will take a broad historical overview of developments in audio-visual media such as theatre, television and film in South Asia in the post-Independence period. Cinema-especially the Hindi film-has been the pre-eminent cultural influence shaping the popular imagination and collective conciousness of the South Asian audiences in this century.

Grading Policy

Class participation/discussion 20% 3 class reports: 1st report (min. of 2500 words) due Oct 15 20% 2nd report (min. 2000 words) due November 16 20% Final report (min 3500 words) due December 7 40%
