ANS 378 • Senior Seminar in Asian Studies-W
9:30 AM-11:00 AM
The objective of this course is to develop a detailed understanding of how people in South and East Asia conceptualize and represent ideas about self, identity, and the human body and to consider how this influences medical practices and systems. We will consider indigenous approaches to providing medical care in Asian societies, such as Ayurvedic medicine and Japanese kempo as well as Western-style biomedicine as it has developed in Asia.
