The August 30, 2009 Elections and the Future of Japanese Politics
Patricia Maclachlan will analyze the results of Japan's pivotal August 30 Lower House elections and explore some of the scenarios for the future of Japanese politics. Is Japan on the threshold of major political, economic and foreign policy change, or should we expect a few more years of political inertia?
Professor Maclachlan is Associate Professor of Government and Asian Studies and the director of the Center for East Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin.
