Music of India

About the event:

Music in India is as old as civilization itself, and it is at once entertainment, science, and spirituality. Having originated in the ancient Vedas, classical Indian music has now evolved into Hindustani of the North, and Carnatic of the South. Now both are famed worldwide for their melodic and rhythmic richness through legends like Pandit Ravi Shankar, Ustad Zakir Hussain, and M.S. Subbulakshmi.

In this event, you will learn about the basic building blocks of Indian music, raga and tala, and experience the richness of tradition and the depth of creativity that goes into each moment of a concert.

Venue Information:

Flawn Academic Center Auditorium (FAC 21), at Inner Campus Dr. off 24th street, next to the UT Tower
