Standard Malayalam of Kerala. This is a first semester introductory level course geared towards training students in the foundations of Malayalam which will encompass the learning of alphabets, bi- and multi-sentence structure and
informal conversational exchange.

Prerequisite: Malayalam 507 with a grade of at least C. Second year Malyalam I is geared toward training students in the acquisition of different styles of writing with the help of some selected essays and short stories. By the end of the semester, students should be able to write and speak Malayalm without hesitation and narrate a specific topic.
