Biography

Imran is a PhD candidate in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. He was an assistant insturctor and taught Urdu at U.T. Austin. He currently teaches educational psychology at Austin Community College. His dissertation investigates discourses of Islam and feminism in twentieth-century Urdu poetry. Prior to joining the Asian Studies program, he taught social studies at Bowie High School in Austin.

Interests

South Asian Religious Traditions, Islam in India and Pakistan, Modern South Asian history, Urdu and Hindi literature, and Gender Representation in Muslim Societies.
