Class of 2005 Plans for the Future

The future is bright for Asian Studies graduates

Jonas Shen received his Bachelors in Asian Culture and Languages and Radio, Television, and Film on May 21. He will attend the AED NFLI National Chinese Flagship Program at Ohio State University this fall.

William Henry Bridges IV received his Bachelors in Japanese, English Honors, and Plan II on May 21. He is one of the 12 Dean's Distinguished Graduates of College of Liberal Arts for 2005. William will start a Ph.D. program at Princeton University in East Asian Studies this fall with a five year scholarship.

Jessie Lubke, a Chinese and Plan II major, will spend the summer in the Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in Southwestern China doing field research for her Plan II thesis on an ethnic minority migrant group called the Buyi. At the end of August, she will be a delegate at Harvard Project on Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) in Tokyo; her seminar is called "Reinventing Diaspora: Understanding Globalization Through Human Migration.
