Two Graduates from Department of Asian Studies Receive Fulbrights
Michelle Cheng to study in Japan and Alex Sowash to research in China.

Michelle Cheng, who graduated in December 2006 with a BA in Asian Cultures and Languages - Japanese and special departmental honors in Asian Studies, received a Fulbright for the 2007-2008 academic year to study in Japan. When she returns from Japan, Michelle will begin the Ph.D. program in Asian Languages at Stanford University.
Alex Sowash, who graduated with special departmental honors in Asian Cultures and Languages - Chinese in December 2006, received a Fulbright to study in China for 2007-2008. Alex was also nominated to represent the Department of Asian Studies by participating in a roundtable discussion at the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference: Asia at the Crossroads. The conference ran from April 9-13 in Annapolis, MD and was attended by academics and military delegates from around the world.
