Posted: September 13, 2010
The Program in Taiwan Studies at the University of Texas at Austin and the Graduate Institute of Taiwan Literature at National Taiwan University are jointly launching a new International Conference Series on Taiwan Literature and Culture. The conference series will bring together college professors, as well as their graduate students, whose research interests fall within the scope of the conference agenda. The primary goal of this initiative is to form a community of this fledgling field, to provide a forum for continual exchange of ideas and concerns on pedagogical and methodological issues, and to keep its members abreast of the rapidly changing geopolitical and academic environments.
The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of California, Davis, will host the first event of this series, a graduate student conference on November 11, 2010. The conference will be held in conjunction with an international symposium, ?Taiwan Literature: History and Methodology,? on November 12 -13, which features discussions related to the compilation of Taiwan Literary History: A Sourcebook, sponsored by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
