GK 365 • Sophocles

Course Description

Meets w GK 385 This course will be basaed around a close reading of Sophocles' Antigone, in Greek, with discussion of important interpretive and critical issues. We will also read the six other plays of Sophocles in translation. Graduate students enrolled in 385 will also read the Philoctetes in Greek and meet for one extra hour a week to disucuss issues in that play. Grade: 365-20% each for two midterms and a final (including unseen translation), 20% paper, 20% daily in-class translation. 385-20% each for two midterms and a final (including unseen translation), 40% paper
