Course Description
The primary aim of this Seminar will be to acquaint the student with the history of the transmission of the ancient manuscripts on which the modern texts of classical authors are based. We shall also learn how to read and collate medieval Greek manuscripts, how to classify the MSS by family, assess their relative worth, and construct a stemma. From there we shall advance to the fundamentals of textual criticism.
