Course Description
33030 M-F 11-12 RAS 211A 33035 M-F 12-1 UTC 4.120 33040 M-F 1-2 WEL 3.266 Latin is one of the basic languages to learn for better command of English; over 65% of the English vocabulary is based on Latin. Latin 506 acquaints the student with the principal forms and structures of Latin in an interesting and challenging manner. The aim is to proceed to the reading of connected Latin passages as soon as possible and to learn about the culture of the Roman people. There will be daily assignments from the text, chapters 1-25. Passages from 38 Latin Stories. Prerequisites: There are no prerequisites. The course may not be counted by students offering two or more admission units or any previous college credit in Latin. Latin 506 may be used as part of the foreign language requirement, as an elective, or as part of the Area D requirement.
