Course Description

This course is designed to cover the second-year sequence in Latin within one semester, and thus prepare students for upper division classes the following semester. It will emphasize review of complex syntactical principles and the acquisition of rapid reading ability through the study of selected Latin texts, both prose and verse0 Gasar's Gallico, Wars, Livy on Hannibals Crossing of the Alps, Ovids Art of Love, Vergils Aeneid will be our fare, and other Authors. The grade will be based on two midterms (25% each), a final exam (25%), and daily class recitation, including periodic quizzes (25%). The prerequisite for this course is the completion of Latin 507, 506Q or 508 with the grade of A. Enrollment will be limited to 15 students.
