Course Description
This course aims to cover the second year of Latin in a single semester and so prepare the student for upper-division coursework, with the linguistic facility needed to read Latin literature critically. Our texts are Cicero's Pro Caelio and select poems of Catullus. These two authors give us something like the polar extremes of Late Republican Latin, and there is historical, cultural, and literary interest in pairing the two texts.
