LAT 311 • Second-Year Latin I: Selected Roman Writers

This course has two aims: to increase students' fluency in Latin through reading and close study of selected passages of Vergil's Aeneid, and to introduce students to Roman life and culture through that reading. Prerequisites: LAT 507, 508, or 506Q, or the equivalent in a placement exam, with a grade of at least C. Requirements: Grades will be based mainly on a series of regularly scheduled tests. Texts Pharr, Vergil's Aeneid; Cassell's Latin-English/English-Latin Dictionary, or equivalent paperback dictionary.
