Course Description
We will read selections from Aristotle's Poetics, Nichomachean Ethics, and Rhetoric. The focus of the course will be on translation and discussion of Aristotle's views on tragedy, rhetoric and the emotions.
Standard Statement: Readings from major writers such as Thucydides, Demosthenes, Aeschylus, Pindar, and the Lyric Poets. Three class hours a week for one semester. May be repeated for credit when the topics vary.
