Professor Steve Friesen's Innovative Web Site Wins Bronze IITAP Award
Posted: May 8, 2007
"The Daily Intelligencer," an innovative web environment based on the metaphor of a newspaper publishing office, was developed by Prof. Steve Friesen of the Classics Department as an interactive environment to help students learn various methods of Gospel interpretation.
The Daily Intelligencer is also the name of the fictional newspaper within the learning environment. By working for one of the departments in the newspaper, the student learns the method of interpretation that will be used in gospel analysis. The steps range from getting a job as an "intern" in one of the departments to promotion to "staff writer." These stages are prerequisites to writing a paper for the class.
The student is invited to go on into the Lobby and the receptionist will help him or her get started with the job application process!
