Course Description
This is an introductory course on the economics of international trade and investment. We will emphasize both the intuition behind key ideas as well as some simple ways of demonstrating them with the help of models. Equipped with those, we will analyze policy issues as they have come up recently. Key issues are: Why do countries trade?, The gains from trade, The pattern of trade, foreign investment, and factor movements, Globalization: Causes and Consequences, and trade policy and protectionism
