Course Description

How do international financial markets function? What is a balance-of-payments crisis? What are the pros and cons of a monetary union such as the EMU? Why did the Bretton Woods System collapse? Are liberalizations of capital movements always a blessing? How do financial crises occur? These are all questions that we will address in this course. We will provide an analytical framework to analyze and understand the driving forces in an international economy better.
